Ryan & Julie (Sneak Peek)

The plan was to post another Chicago picture, complete the “Chicago Beauty” series, and then move on to a sneak peek of the engagement photo shoot I had this past weekend with my friends Ryan and Julie.  But after looking through the pictures last night, I couldn’t help myself.  I edited a several of my favorites and decided that I JUST HAD TO POST two of them.

Ryan, Julie, and I spent this past Sunday afternoon visiting several locations around Austin to take their engagement photos.  Both of the below images were taken on S. Congress Ave, which is one of the more “unique” areas of the city.  The whole afternoon was a blast – I hope they enjoyed their time as much as I did.  Keep an eye out for more pictures in the future.  Congratulations, Ryan & Julie!

Chicago Beauty II

Since I made everyone wait so long for this second installment of Chicago Beauty, I’ll give you two for the price of one.  The previous post in this series describes my intention for posting these images.  The sky was a wonderful painting of many colors that evening, and I couldn’t have been in a better location to observe it.  I’ll have another couple images coming your way in tomorrow night’s post.  And I promise to actually post them tomorrow night.  In the mean time, enjoy these images, leave a comment, and share with others using Facebook and Twitter!

Cakes

My photo “Cakes” was honored as the Light & Composition Photo of the Day for March 7th, similar to my photo “Mozart’s Snowflake” for March 5. I included another of the pictures that I took of those cupcakes below as a benefit for those who took the time to check out my blog. Here’s a little more about the picture:

Everyone loves a birthday party. My girlfriend’s (now fiancee’s) family was excited to celebrate the first birthday of the newest member of the family – Avalyn. Her great-grandparents hosted the birthday party at their farm in Illinois, and many of the cousins, uncles, and aunts brought treats and presents. These were some of the cupcakes made for Avalyn’s party. Stacked as they were, it presented a perfect situation to capture an image with a small depth of field. Unfortunately, I didn’t own a prime lens at the time, so f/5.6 had to suffice.
