I’ve had this song in the back of my mind since I heard it on the last episode (ever) of The Chicago Code on Fox. Although this isn’t really a “photography” themed post, I do like the artistic quality of this music video, and the song is really good too.
Parlours – I Dream of Chicago

I wasn’t planning on including any images with this post, but I changed my mind while I was writing it. So here’s a couple cold, dreary Chicago images from the archives to accompany the Chicago tunes for your ears.
This isn’t a post specifically about one person’s photography as much as it is a post about what happened to one person’s photography. In a day and age where information is shared in real time over the internet and sometime it’s hard to track where your words, images, and thoughts end up, here’s a story that’s more-or-less a wakeup call to everyone. Whether or not you’re a photographer, this video is pretty interesting.
On his website, www.thestolenscream.com, Noam Galai, a Jewish photographer from New York, briefly recaps the story: “About two years after publishing photos of myself screaming on the Flickr, I discovered that my face was ‘for sale’ in several stores around the world, as well as on the Web and spotted it in places like Spain, Iran, Mexico, England and many other places. When I realized that its [sic] not a one-time-thing and my face is being used in so many places i decided to start collecting images/videos of all my ‘appearances’. Check out my Scream Blog where i post all the different photos i find with my face .”

I realized recently that this blog has been all about me so far, which isn’t really what I intended when I started it. So for the next couple posts I plan on introducing you to other photographers or “artists” that have inspired me, awesome pictures, or stories that have caught my attention.
This first post is about Jeremy Cowart. Although Jeremy only started doing photography as a profession in 2005, he has quickly ascended the ranks to become one of the most respected photographers in the industry. His client list is quite extensive, and if you check out his work you can see why. Go to his website and you’ll probably recognize some of his images. Also, the fact that he took the time to produce a 4+ hour instructional DVD with 7 narrated photo shoots just blows my mind.
But what introduced me to Jeremy’s work and caught my attention was a link shared just before Easter by a good friend of mine, Robb Davidson (another photographer and fellow Cubs fan). It was a link to the below video. Not only do I like this video because of its content, but it inspires me to become more creative. I know it’s 6 and a half minutes long, but I think it’s worth it. Let me know what you think.
