It’s been a while since I’ve done any HDR photography (which is simply a method of combining multiple bracketed images to create one image with a larger dynamic range than a normal photograph), but I just couldn’t help myself a few nights ago. As I’ve mentioned previously, I can’t stand when people use HDR to create some ridiculously phony looking picture (Google it), but that’s just personal preference. I like to utilize it in a minimal way to effectively re-create the image as I remember my eyes seeing it, since our eyes have significantly higher dynamic range than our cameras. Hopefully I was able to do that here. This is the Pennybacker Bridge – the portion of Capital of Texas Highway 360 that spans Lake Austin. You can see the skyscrapers of the Austin skyline peeking out over the horizon just to the left of the bridge in each photo. Enjoy!
Craig & Jenn are two of our close friends from church – well, Craig will start going to our church when they get married! It was so much fun hanging out with them on a beautiful (and eventually hot) Saturday afternoon to take these engagement pictures. Craig is quoted as saying, “What are we going to do with all these ‘Save the Date’ pictures?” But hopefully they are able to find a use for them, because I think they turned out AWESOME. We started at Laguna Gloria in West Austin and then headed to South Congress and got some really cool pictures along the row of shops there, including a candy store. These two are so great for each other and so happy and in love. We can’t wait to see where God takes them!
Lots of firsts in 2012 when it came to portraits! We did our first maternity session, newborn session, and baby sessions, which was awesome. It’s always great to expand your experience/repertoire and get to know lots of fun people. There’s nothing like seeing your own reflection in the eyes of a newborn baby. In additions to those new experiences, we did a few weddings, an engagement session, and some family portraits for friends’ Christmas cards, which are included at the bottom. Enjoy! And keep your eyes open for a few more posts this week.
