Jordan & Sarah | Central Illinois Engagement Session

This was my first outdoor winter photo session, and it was as cold as it looks – central Illinois isn’t very “pleasant” around the New Year. But don’t worry, I was all bundled up (see the last picture) and Sarah & Jordan were troopers! Sarah is Katie’s cousin, and we’ve gotten to know Jordan & Sarah as a couple over the last few years during holidays and other trips home. Right before we went back to Illinois for Christmas this year, we found out they got engaged! As usually happens when you’re a photographer, the discussion soon turned to photo sessions and the next thing we knew, we’d scheduled an engagement session and started talking wedding photography!

All the photos below were taken on Sarah’s parents’ property, which is a really beautiful section of wooded land, farmland, a river, and there’s even an abandoned bridge.  We couldn’t have asked for a better setting, and the pictures turned out beautifully.  We also got a chance to include Snickers, their goldendoodle, in the photo shoot as well!  Our time with Jordan and Sarah (and Snickers) was a lot of fun, and we can’t wait to photograph their wedding in July!

Everett Michael | Baby Photography

A few highlight images from my photo session with little Everett Michael. I’ve known Everett’s mom for basically my whole life – we went to school together from Kindergarten all the way thru high school.  Their family still lives in Illinois, and although we had initially planned on doing a newborn session during my trip home in September, Everett took a few extra days to arrive!  The timing didn’t work out for that shoot, but we found a way to make it work 3 months later.

Everett is a happy little guy, and I had to make sure to get some close-ups of those big blue eyes. We’re really glad we got the chance to meet him and take some pictures!  Enjoy!

The Campbell Family | Austin Family Photography

The Campbells are back on the blog! We did a family photo session for Matt, Becky, and Kate last year under completely different weather conditions. That day, it was bright, crisp, and beautiful outside; this year, it was cold, rainy, soggy. Unfortunately, the first indoor location we selected for this year’s photo session, as a result of the weather, was occupied by a special event, so we had to improvise again. In the end, it all worked out, and we got some great pictures of this beautiful family! There’s a lesson for you young photographers – always be ready to be flexible!
